Change was heavy in the air at this year’s Channel Partners Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, with many first-time exhibitors present on the show floor and the spotlight shining brightest on an array of new cloud and SD-WAN offerings.
But, when all was said and done, here were the four cloud trends that seemed to be gaining the most traction at this year’s event:
1. The movement to cloud isn’t being driven by the desire for cost savings alone. Customers also highly value increased operational capability and agility, in order to better support their business in a fast-paced and turbulent economic climate.
2. In the SMB market, there is a growing demand for high-touch “cloud on a human scale” alternatives to the Hyperscale providers that come with more limited user support.
3. A customer’s cloud strategy is only as good as the connectivity that underpins it.
4. As customers adopt more and more cloud-based applications and put in place multi-cloud architectures, they would be well served to consider a one-to-many, ecosystem-based approach to private connectivity for their most critical traffic flows.
As the journey to cloud continues full steam ahead, the pace of change will only accelerate as a wide variety of new vendors and new services continue to enter the market, one after the other, at a bewildering clip. With this backdrop, it’s little wonder that so many customers are confused and struggling to keep up with the latest that the market has to offer.
This is a golden opportunity for the cloud-savvy agent. Now, more than ever, a trusted adviser is needed to help IT buyers navigate to the right services from the right suppliers.
